2. Layer the Cheese
Stir 2 cups of the shredded cheese into the sausage. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9-inch deep-dish pie plate.
3. Prepare the Batter
In a small bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, biscuit mix, sage, and pepper. Pour this mixture evenly over the sausage and cheese in the pie plate.
4. Bake the Pie
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
5. Melt the Top
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and bake for 1–2 minutes more, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
