🛒 What You’ll Need
🥔 6–8 medium Yukon Gold or baby potatoes
🧈 3 tbsp melted butter
🧄 1 tsp garlic powder
🌿 1 tsp Italian seasoning
🧂 1/2 tsp salt
🌶️ 1/4 tsp black pepper
🧀 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
🥓 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
🌿 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or green onions
👩🍳 How to Make Them
1️⃣ Prepare the potatoes
Wash and scrub the potatoes well.
Using a sharp knife, carefully make thin slices across each potato, stopping before you cut all the way through.
💡 Place the potato between two chopsticks or the handles of wooden spoons while slicing. They'll help prevent the knife from going all the way through!
2️⃣ Season with buttery goodness
Place the potatoes in a bowl.
Mix the melted butter with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
Brush the seasoned butter generously over each potato, making sure some gets between the slices.
3️⃣ Into the Crockpot
Lightly grease the bottom of your slow cooker.
Arrange the potatoes inside in a single layer when possible.
Cover and cook on LOW for about 4–5 hours, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
Cooking time can vary depending on the size of your potatoes.
4️⃣ Add the cheese
During the final 15–20 minutes, sprinkle the shredded cheddar over the potatoes.
Cover again and let the cheese melt into all those delicious little slices. 🧀😍
5️⃣ Finish and serve
Carefully transfer the potatoes to a serving platter.
Top with crispy crumbled bacon and chopped parsley or green onions.
Serve warm and enjoy every buttery, cheesy bite! 🥔❤️
✨ Make Them Your Own
🥓 Add extra crispy bacon
🧀 Try Monterey Jack or pepper Jack
🌶️ Add a pinch of crushed red pepper
🧄 Use fresh minced garlic
🥔 Sprinkle with Parmesan before serving
🥛 Add a dollop of sour cream
🌿 Finish with fresh chives or green onions
💡 A Little Tip
Try to keep the slices close together rather than cutting them completely apart. This helps the potatoes hold their shape while allowing all that buttery seasoning and melted cheese to work its way into the cuts.
And choose potatoes that are similar in size so they cook more evenly. 🥔✨
❤️ A Little Bite of Comfort
There’s something so comforting about a good potato side dish.
Maybe it’s the buttery flavor. Maybe it’s the melted cheese. Or maybe it's simply knowing that the slow cooker is quietly doing the work while you get everything else ready. 🥰
