👩‍🍳 How to Make It

1️⃣ Get the oven ready

Preheat your oven to 350°F.

Grease and lightly flour two 9-inch round cake pans and set them aside.

2️⃣ Mix the dry ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

3️⃣ Add the wet ingredients

Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla.

Beat until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Slowly pour in the hot coffee or hot water and mix carefully until the batter is smooth.

Don't worry if the batter looks thin—that's exactly what helps create such a moist chocolate cake. 🍫

4️⃣ Add the chocolate chips

Fold in the Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips.

Try to distribute them evenly throughout the batter so every slice gets plenty of chocolate goodness. 😋

5️⃣ Bake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

Bake for approximately 28–34 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then carefully transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

6️⃣ Make the chocolate frosting

Beat the softened butter until creamy.

Add the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.

Gradually add the milk, a little at a time, until the frosting becomes smooth, creamy, and easy to spread.

🍫 Add a splash more milk if needed.

7️⃣ Build your chocolate masterpiece

Place one completely cooled cake layer on a serving plate.

Spread a generous layer of chocolate frosting over the top.

Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake.

Sprinkle extra Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips over the top and sides.

Add chocolate shavings if you're feeling extra indulgent. 🍫✨

💡 A Little Tip

For the cleanest slices, let the cake cool completely before frosting it.

And if you want an especially fudgy experience, serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the refrigerator—the chocolate flavor really shines! ❤️

✨ Make It Your Own

🍫 Mix semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips

🤎 Add mini chocolate chips to the frosting

🌰 Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts on top

🍓 Add fresh strawberries for a chocolate-and-fruit combination

❤️ A Little Bite of Chocolate Heaven

There are cakes that are simply dessert…

And then there are cakes that make everyone gather around the table. 🍫🍰

This is definitely one of those cakes.

It’s rich enough for a special celebration but comforting enough for a quiet evening when you simply need a little chocolate happiness.

One slice turns into another. The frosting gets scraped from the plate. And somehow, that beautiful cake disappears much faster than expected. 😍

Because sometimes, more chocolate really is the answer. ❤️🍫
