🛒 What You’ll Need
🥨 Pretzel Base
🥨 3 cups mini pretzels, lightly crushed
🧈 ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
🍬 ¼ cup brown sugar
🍯 Caramel Layer
🧈 ½ cup unsalted butter
🍬 1 cup packed brown sugar
🥛 ½ cup heavy cream
🌿 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
🧂 ¼ teaspoon salt
🍫 Chocolate Topping
🍫 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
🧈 1 tablespoon butter
🧂 Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
👩🍳 How to Make It
🔥 Prepare the pan:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang for easy removal.
🥨 Make the pretzel base:
Combine the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and brown sugar. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
🔥 Bake the base:
Bake for 8–10 minutes, then remove from the oven.
🍯 Make the caramel:
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and heavy cream. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly, and cook for about 3–4 minutes until smooth and slightly thickened.
🌿 Finish the caramel:
Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and salt.
🍯 Pour it on:
Carefully pour the warm caramel over the pretzel crust and spread it evenly.
❄️ Let it set:
Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until the caramel has firmed up.
🍫 Add the chocolate:
Melt the chocolate chips with the tablespoon of butter in short intervals in the microwave, stirring between each interval until smooth.
🍫 Spread and sprinkle:
Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel layer. Immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
❄️ Chill and slice:
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until completely set. Lift the bars from the pan using the parchment paper and cut into squares.
💡 A Little Tip
For clean slices, use a sharp knife and wipe it clean between cuts. If the chocolate is very firm, let the bars sit at room temperature for a few minutes before slicing.
And don't skip the flaky sea salt—it’s what makes all those sweet caramel and chocolate flavors pop. 🧂✨
